MEP Picula's working visit to Sarajevo

As a Member of the Delegation of Subcommittee on Security and Defense of the European Parliament, MEP Tonino Picula went to a three-day working visit to Sarajevo

"I would like the BiH security system to enter the EU before the state itself, but the existence of as many as 17 different police and agencies influences our efficiency", said Dragan Mektić, BiH Security Minister during the talks with the Subcommittee on Security and Defense (SEDE) of the European Parliament which stayed in Sarajevo for a three-day working visit.

This statement might best describe the gap between ambitions and the current capabilities of security-related structures in our neighboring country. As a Delegation Member and Head of the EP Cooperation Committee with BiH and Kosovo, I repeated how blocking the work of the joint parliamentary committee by the BiH Parliament, negatively affects the perception of BiH in EU institutions", said Tonino Picula, Chair of the EP Delegation for Relations with BiH and Kosovo after returning from Sarajevo.
