"The application of the smart islands concept, along with other elements of the legislature will depend on the application of the Law, but also on the initiatives of local communities on islands", commented Tonino Picula, MEP on the introduction of the Islands Law to the Croatian Parliament Sabor, for the Croatian media. Picula initiated the creation of the Islands Comitee of the European Commision, and is the deputy chairman of the European Parliament's Islands Group.
